What is a Salon Stay?
A Salon Stay is Spitz Groom’s version of dog day care, giving your dog a safe and supervised place to spend the day while you’re at work, running errands or simply need somewhere for them to stay.
Salon Stays are available as either a half-day or full-day stay and are designed to provide dogs with company, enrichment and a calm salon environment.
What is included in a Salon Stay?
A Salon Stay provides your dog with a supervised day at Spitz Groom, with opportunities for companionship, rest and appropriate enrichment throughout their stay.
Because we’re a grooming salon rather than a high-volume dog daycare facility, we can take a more considered approach to the dogs in our care and their individual needs.
Can I book a Salon Stay without having my dog groomed?
Yes.
A Salon Stay is a standalone service and does not require your dog to have a grooming appointment.
It’s ideal for dogs who enjoy spending time with people and a familiar environment while their owners are busy during the day.
Are Salon Stays available for half days and full days?
Yes. Salon Stays are available as either half-day or full-day bookings.
The appropriate option will depend on how long you need your dog to stay and our availability on the day.
How much does a Salon Stay cost?
A half-day Salon Stay is $50, while a full-day Salon Stay is $70.
Our Salon Stays provide dogs with a calm, carefully supervised environment where they can relax, socialise and enjoy personalised attention from our team. Spitz Groom Salon Stays are particularly popular with our older 4-legged customers.
Places are intentionally limited to help us maintain a quiet, low-stress space, so bookings are essential.
Can my dog have a grooming appointment during their Salon Stay?
Yes, where appropriate.
A Salon Stay can be combined with a grooming appointment, making it particularly convenient for regular clients. Your dog can spend part of the day at Spitz Groom and have their grooming appointment during their stay.
This can also be useful for dogs who are more comfortable taking their time rather than arriving specifically for a grooming appointment and leaving immediately afterwards.
Is Salon Stay the same as dog daycare?
Salon Stay provides a daycare-style experience, but it’s not intended to replicate a large commercial dog daycare centre.
Spitz Groom is a grooming salon first, so our Salon Stay service is designed around a calmer, more personalised environment with the dogs’ individual needs and comfort taken into consideration.
Is my dog suitable for a Salon Stay?
Suitability depends on your dog’s temperament, behaviour, social needs and ability to settle comfortably in the salon environment.
We’ll discuss your dog’s individual needs before accepting a Salon Stay booking. Not every dog enjoys spending the day in a salon, and that’s okay. Our priority is making sure the environment is appropriate for the dogs in our care.
How long can my dog stay?
Salon Stays are available as half-day or full-day bookings.
We’ll confirm the applicable drop-off and collection times when your Salon Stay is booked.
Why does Spitz Groom limit the number of dogs in Salon Stays?
We deliberately limit Salon Stays to a maximum of five dogs at any one time.
Unlike high-volume dog daycare facilities, we don’t want a busy, crowded environment where dogs can become overwhelmed by noise, activity and too many unfamiliar dogs.
Keeping numbers small allows our team to provide closer supervision, a calmer environment and more individual attention to each dog.
It’s an intentional part of how we operate. We’d rather care for fewer dogs well than fill the salon to capacity.
