Spinning & Crafting Keepsakes from Your Dog’s Fur

At Spitz Groom, we believe every dog leaves their mark—not just in our hearts, but sometimes in our hands too! One of the most unique and heart-warming services we offer is the ability to transform your dog’s fur into a lasting keepsake.

We’re lucky to be just doors down from the Handweavers & Spinners Guild and to work closely with talented local crafters, including Marianne Wheatland, who has built a business specialising in spinning exclusively dog fur into beautiful, soft yarn.

How It Works

Collecting the Fur
During your dog’s groom, we set aside their clean, brushed-out fur—perfect for spinning. If you’d like, you can also contribute additional fur collected from brushing your dog at home. This can help create enough fibre for larger projects.
Spinning the Yarn
The fur is professionally washed, carded, and spun into a skein of yarn. This can be:
- Delivered directly to you to create something of your own
- Passed on to one of our skilled local crafters for a custom project
Crafting Your Keepsake
Our network of weavers, knitters, crocheters, and artisans can turn your dog’s yarn into something truly special. The possibilities include:
