Experienced Dog Groomer

Carlton North | Minimum 3 Days Per Week

We combine technical expertise with a compassionate, ethical approach to create a positive fear-free environment where dogs feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. Whether the dog is a high-maintenance showstopper or a nervous rescue learning to trust again, we tailor our services to meet their needs, always working at their pace through the grooming experience.

Due to continued growth, Spitz Groom is seeking an experienced Dog Groomer to join our established team in Carlton North.

We’re looking for a talented groomer who is passionate about their craft, committed to delivering exceptional results, and enjoys working in a salon that values quality, professionalism, and continuous improvement over quantity.

This role is a minimum of 3 days per week, with our preferred days being Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (however this is negotiable).

About You

As an experienced Dog Groomer, you’ll be confident clipping and scissoring across a wide range of breeds and coat types without supervision. However, if you have particular breed preferences or areas of expertise, we’re always happy to discuss how we can play to your strengths.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

A minimum of 3 years’ professional dog grooming experience
The ability to complete all grooming services independently and unsupervised
Advanced knowledge of grooming techniques, equipment, breed standards, coat types and maintenance requirements
Strong scissoring and finishing skills
The ability to confidently provide consultations and accurate grooming quotations
Excellent dog handling skills and a calm, professional approach
Strong communication and customer service skills
A genuine passion for ongoing learning and improving your craft
Your own grooming scissors

Your Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality grooming services across a variety of breeds and coat types
Perform bathing, drying, clipping, hand scissoring and breed-specific styling
Conduct client consultations and recommend suitable grooming options
Provide aftercare advice and education to pet owners
Build strong relationships with clients while confidently managing expectations
Handle special grooming requests and unique coat or behavioural requirements
Stay up to date with current grooming trends, techniques and industry best practices
Maintain high standards of animal welfare, safety and presentation
