What are Soft Paws®?
Soft Paws® are non-toxic vinyl caps that are applied to your dog’s nails using a special medical-grade adhesive. Invented by veterinarian Dr. Toby Wexler in the 1990s, they are a safe, temporary alternative that helps manage a range of everyday issues related to scratching and grip.
These caps fit snugly over the nail and are completely painless when applied correctly. Your dog can walk, run, play, and scratch as normal—just with a little extra flair.

Please note: some size/colour limitations apply to the XS and XXXL sizes.
Your dog will be fitted according to their nail size, and we may use a combination of sizes if needed (e.g., Medium on front feet, Large on back).
How long do they last?
Most dogs wear their Soft Paws® for 4–6 weeks.
Some may last up to 3 months, while others (especially first-timers) may chew or shed them sooner. This is harmless—Soft Paws® are fully non-toxic.
Durability can vary based on:

Frequency of walking on rough surfaces (e.g., concrete)

Nail growth rate

Water exposure (bathing, swimming, winter puddles)

Coat maintenance (matted leg fur may catch the caps)
Things to consider

If your dog frequently swims or attends hydrotherapy, we recommend more frequent changes. Water can seep under the cap and cause irritation or fungal issues.

Dogs with thick or long leg fur may risk entanglement if scratching—especially if coats are matted or poorly maintained.

Applying the perfect amount of glue is an art: too little and they fall off, too much and the glue may seep onto surrounding fur. Our team takes care to balance this precisely.

How do I book this service?
To book your dog in for Soft Paws® application, please visit our booking portal and select “Nail Services” from the category menu. From there, you can choose between:

Half Set — application to either front or back nails (10 caps)
-
Full Set — application to both front and back nails (20 caps)
These appointments are carried out in-salon and typically take 20–40 minutes depending on the set selected and your dog’s cooperation.
